In 2018, calligraphy caught my eye, and I was hooked with my first brush calligraphy workshop hosted by a local artist. For me, this art form is the perfect mixture of structure and freedom to create something beautiful. Soon after, dip pen calligraphy drew me in, and I began diving into the art found in traditional scripts using a pointed pen. The generous Instagram calligraphy community is so inviting and helpful, which is where I found fantastic resources online to guide these endeavors. Unfortunately, with the pandemic, my first in-person class was changed last minute to the online format. Since then, I have been extremely grateful for the abounding opportunities to learn and skill my craft from online classes taught by beloved instructors in the community (Suzanne Cunningham, Heather Held, Dreaming in Script with David Grimes, Anne Elser, Mike Kecsug) and to meet and learn from wonderful people around the world. I am forever grateful for each member of the calligraphy community.
Cypress Letter Studio fit the next step in my journey, by playing a role of threading the scripts of old within Northwest Arkansas and beyond.
